Giovanni Levanti

Giovanni Levanti was born in Palermo, Italy, in 1956. He graduated in Architecture at Palermo University in 1983 and received a Master in Industrial Design from Milan Domus Academy in 1985 with a thesis on light in domestic environments. In the same year he became an assistant to Andrea Branzi and worked in his studio until 1990 starting, at the same time, his own independent activity. His objects have been selected for main exhibitions in Italy and abroad, among the others: La Biennal de Barcelona, Barcelona 1989; Capitales Européennes du Nouveau Design, Centre Georges Pompidou, Paris 1991; La Fabbrica Estetica, Gran Palais, Paris 1993; Il Design Italiano 1964/1990, Triennale di Milano, 1996. He has designed for major Italian firms such as: CASSINA, FOSCARINI, PALLUCCO, SALVIATI, CAMPEGGI, DOMODINAMICA, PROGETTI, ARBOS. He taught Industrial Design as guest-professor at Palermo University in 1995 and 1996, and at Milan Domus Academy in 1997 and 1998. He lives and works in Milan.
